A native of nowhere in particular, Kerry grew up in a military family, and has lived in Germany, Japan, New York, Nebraska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, South Dakota, Maryland and finally, South Carolina. When people try to figure out her accent, and ask her what part of the country she is from, she laughs.
Her father retired in Little Rock, Arkansas when she was a teenager, and she graduated from Arkansas State University with a Commercial Art degree. From there, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked in advertising as a designer and sales consultant. She eventually returned to Little Rock, married and had four children. Kerry continued to work in advertising in Little Rock as a copywriter, account executive and creative director.
In 2007, her husband’s career moved them from Little Rock to South Dakota to Baltimore to Hilton Head Island in the space of seven years. She is now busy putting down writerly roots in Hilton Head Island.
Kerry’s publishing credits include a popular weekly newspaper and e-zine humor column, “The Lighter Side,” which published in the Capital Journal, Pierre, SD; The Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan Publishing Group, Yankton, SD, and various regional weeklies and dailies under this group as a guest columnist; NAABW (National Association of Boomer Women), an online magazine, as guest columnist; Empty Nesting Online as a guest columnist. Recently, her articles have appeared in Beaufort County’s “Lady Lowcountry” magazine, and “The Bluffton Breeze” magazine. Her novel, “The Hunting,” women’s fiction, Pen-L Publishing, released December, 2013 and is available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle. She has completed her second book, suspense; and is working on a third.
Kerry is a past president of the Maryland Writer’s Association (Carroll County), is an active member of Island Writers’ Network on Hilton Head Island, Mystery Writers of America, and frequently attends writing classes and conferences.
She enjoys time with her husband, her grown kids and their families, working out, good jazz, a great glass of red wine, the beach, and her two cats. Contact her on Twitter @kerryperesta, or her FB author page.
